Concurrent Enrollment

Please see below for policies and procedures for enrolling in a chemistry lecture and lab courses via Concurrent Enrollment. Pay special attention to the policies for impacted lectures and lab courses.

Lectures

If you wish to enroll in a Chemistry/Biochemistry lecture course via Concurrent Enrollment, read and follow the steps below:

  1. Follow all instructions on how to sign up for classes via Concurrent Enrollment, per UCSD Extension's website:
  2. For Chemistry Lectures: Complete a Concurrent Enrollment EASy Request (previously known as an add card). IMPORTANT: EASy Requests will not be approved for courses that are full so please only submit for courses with availability listed on the schedule of classes. Requests are approved on a first-come first-serve basis.  If a course appears full or if some sections have waitlists, we will wait until week 1 to review Concurrent Enrollment requests.
  3. A Chemistry/Biochemistry academic advisor will review your EASy request and will notify you if any additional information is needed. If your request is complete and there is space available in your requested course, your request will be approved. For undergraduate classes which are co-scheduled with graduate level classes (e.g. CHEM 156 and 256), Student Affairs will route the request to the instructor for their review.
  4. Attend the CHEM lecture course/s you wish to add, even if your request has not been approved yet. If your request has been denied, you may not attend.
    • Only students who have verified their vaccination status through Extension or received an exemption/deferral may take in person courses. If you have not been approved by Extension, you are not allowed to attend on-site classes.
  5. If approved, you will receive an email with instructions to pay for your course through the Extended Studies website.
